 FAQ

Hiring a photographer is not what we do everyday, and I am very honoured that you are considering me to document something very special for you. Below you will find more information about my family, wedding and engagement photography services.

1. Why do you shoot film?

I love the magic of film that cannot be recreated with a digital camera. Film produces soft, luminous, artful and flattering images, making everything look elegant and refined. It is about "the art of slow living" - it forces the photographer to slow down while shooting and focus on capturing the feeling of the moment.

2. How can you describe your style?

Fusion :) I love subtle timeless grace of fine art photography and the relaxed, laid-back natural beauty of the moments in between. Though I do have professional studio lightning equipment, I prefer working with natural light on beautiful - real - locations.

3. Where are you located? Do you travel outside Switzerland to photograph weddings?

I live in the very heart of Zurich, Switzerland, and travel regularly around Switzerland for weddings, engagements and family portraits. If you are planning a destination wedding, just let me know, I love traveling and discover new countries and locations!

4. We see that some of your wedding collections include an engagement session - we don't need an engagement photo shoot, can we just add 1 or 2 hours to our wedding day coverage instead?

I encourage couples to start with shooting a love story, and my "longer" wedding collections include a complimentary engagement shoot that cannot be transformed into additional hours on the wedding day. The advantage of your engagement session is experiencing what it feels like to be in front of the camera and a great way to know each other prior to the wedding. Speaking about another practical side, you can have the engagement photos for engagement announcement, your wedding website, Facebook, Instagram, invitations and beautifully framed on your bedside table :) During engagement shoot, as we are not limited in time, by venue and wedding attire, we can be creative. We can plan and style your love story together, let's make something meaningful, beautiful and adventurous, and turn normal, "ordinary" pictures into extraordinary portraits you will love forever. Let the world know that you are engaged :)

5. We are ready to book, what's next?

To reserve the day you need to pay a 20 % retainer fee and sign the wedding agreement. The retainer is non-refundable, as the date will be set aside just for you, making it impossible to take other jobs on this day. The remaining balance is due one week prior to your wedding date. If you are booking a portrait collection, I require a signed contract and entire fee at booking.

6. When the pictures will be ready?

Currently, the average delivery time is 6 weeks. Next working day after your wedding the film rolls will be sent to the film lab. Swiss postal service usually takes one week to deliver to the USA. Meanwhile, I will upload your digital pictures, look through them and send you an edited selection that reflects your day.

7. Do you offer albums?

Yes, I do offer wedding albums of the highest standard. In our digital time, with  photographs on our phones and computers, the value of them tends to get lost. The hundreds of pictures from your wedding saved on a flash drive definitely deserve their own life. I love the idea of keeping the memories in the form of a heirloom book, the size of which doesn't really matter, it can be a small one, but of exquisite quality. I work with several well-known unique artisans that craft exclusive fine art books of exceptional beauty and quality - Cypress Fine Handmade Albums, Heirloom Bindery, Velvet Raptor etc.

8. Can we order prints through you?

Yes, you can order Glossy, Lustre, Fuji or Kodak Matte, Deep Matte and Pearl prints of different sizes as well as fine art prints that meet gallery and museum standards for longevity and archival performance - crafted on Canson paper, Hahnemuhle paper, Arista & Moab paper, etc (fine art prints are UV, water and scratch resistant). Some of my packages include 4 x 6 proof prints, all printed on Lustre, Fuji or Kodak Matte paper with a custom border (to be able to get the full, not cropped image).

9. Can we print ourselves our wedding pictures?

Yes, absolutely!

10. Can we order albums later?

Yes, absolutely, a lot of clients contact me regarding their wedding albums by their one-year anniversary.

11. How much do your services cost?

Portrait sessions prices you can find in the beginning of this page :)

12. Do you take pictures of families and kids, including newborns?

Yes, I do, with great pleasure! Children at any age are the most fascinating subjects to be photographed! I offer special collections for expecting families + newborn portraits. Email me to get the details.

Other questions that you sometimes ask

 Will you publish my pictures?

I may use your pictures for publication on my photography website and Instagram. If you want to keep your pictures private, 20 % additional fee will apply. Though I don’t publish even a half of the weddings I shot on the website, I still prefer to know that I can use your pictures (it gives an additional drive to a photographer, no artist likes the idea that his work will be somewhere hidden :) By “using” I mean that I will happily display them with pride in my online portfolio for couples that like you, are in search for a wedding photographer, whose work resonates in their hearts. (for me it’s like putting the images in frames and hanging them on the walls! :) I am always happy to come to a compromise and show only those pictures that you previously have approved.

Do you offer hourly wedding coverage or only packages?

In my photography pricing guide I prepared example collections based on hourly coverage. You can hire me starting at 2 hours. As every wedding and couple is unique, I will be happy to make a custom offer based on your needs. Write me please about yourself, your wedding and what you are looking for, and I will come back to you with the offer very soon.

How many images will we get?

I prefer quality over quantity, but I am always attracted by something that is so special at this (or that) very moment, so in the end I do photograph a lot. It’s difficult to give a particular number, you can estimate 50-200 pictures per hour, depending on weather, number of locations and people willing to be photographed!

Can we get pictures in RAW format?

No, they are so heavy, the process of saving raw images will be too slow and complicated, I would prefer to spend this time on something that makes more sense.

Can we select the pictures that we want to be edited?

Theoretically yes, but practically? You will need to come to my place for a couple of hours at least, to look through your wedding pictures. Isn’t it better to have them delivered to you all nicely edited? :)

When is the best time to book?

As most weddings happen on Saturdays, the dates tend to be booked out quickly. I would recommend to reserve the date 6-12 months in advance. Being a person that makes decision in the last moment myself, I understand that there are a lot of people like me in the world. If you read this with wedding plans in the upcoming two months, do not hesitate to send me a message, some days are being kept asked by couples again and again and some are just waiting for you! :) Having a wedding on a different day than Saturday, gives you more freedom in terms of getting the location and photographer you wish.

What is your strongest point?

I think, finding beauty in literally everything around us and being able to show it in the pictures.

What is your weakest point?

I tend to spend too much time on editing the pictures, overthinking the colour nuances, and as I don’t like strong contrasts and filters, I don’t think that people even notice the difference (it’s also one of the reasons, why I love film photography - I simply do not need to change the colours, the scans will arrive perfectly balanced)

Do you require meals during our wedding?

If it’s not a long wedding, I like not to eat at all using it as an opportunity to lose weight :) If it’s a full day wedding, I will appreciate to have some food and water. Thank you for asking!

We are afraid it will be rainy on our wedding day …

Yes, it’s a possibility :) but you should not be afraid of it. Clouds is the best scenario for wedding photography, they act as a huge soft diffuser that takes away harsh and contrasty shadows from people’s shadows. Rain will create atmospheric and moody pictures.

Wedding locations in Switzerland and somewhere else

I've curated a collection of Switzerland's most stunning locations (and actually not just in Switzerland), including globally renowned destinations and hidden gems that are equally breathtaking. I will keep updating the list.

Will start with “somewhere else”, a place I discovered last Summer during my trip to Spain.

A unique & Dreamy Wedding Idea in Spain’s Burgos:

“Landa” and The Burgos Cathedral

The cultural heritage of the Landa is as rich as its history and natural beauty.

Last summer, on the way from Madrid to San Sebastian, I had the pleasure of staying at the "Landa Hotel," situated just on the outskirts of Burgos. The hotel's distinctive allure and beauty immediately struck me as the ideal setting for a dream wedding. The pool area, with its futuristic marble tables, offers a perfect spot for welcoming guests with aperitifs, while the expansive area in front of the hotel is ideally suited for hosting both the wedding dinner and celebrations thereafter.

The Burgos Cathedral, officially known as Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Santa María de Burgos, stands as a monumental testament to Gothic architecture in the heart of Burgos, Spain. Consecrated in 1260 and completed over centuries, this UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its breathtaking beauty, intricate facades, and the harmonious blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. Its towering spires, majestic altarpieces, and the star-ribbed dome above the main chapel are just a few of the architectural marvels that draw visitors from around the world. The Burgos Cathedral, with its stunning craftsmanship and spiritual ambience, remains a sacred symbol of the city's identity and a masterpiece of medieval architecture. It is possible to get married in the Burgos Cathedral, but some specific requirements and guidelines must be followed. As a place of significant historical and religious importance, weddings in the Burgos Cathedral are typically reserved for practicing Catholics who meet the Cathedral's criteria for marriage. Couples interested in having their wedding ceremony in this magnificent setting are advised to contact the Cathedral's parish office well in advance to inquire about available dates, required documentation, and any other prerequisites for marriage. This may include baptismal certificates, completion of pre-marital counseling, and other church requirements. Given its prominence and the demand for such a unique venue, those wishing to marry in the Burgos Cathedral should plan their wedding well in advance to secure their desired date.
Combining the elegance of the Landa Hotel with the historical grandeur of the Burgos Cathedral offers couples a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate their union in some of Burgos’s most enchanting locations, making their special day truly remarkable.
